This is the family of Birkush Ali — nine orphaned siblings, three of them under the age of 16.
When we first arrived, their exhaustion was overwhelming. Their voices were faint, their eyes dim with fatigue.
Eleven-year-old Salma could barely lift her head. As she spoke, her eyes briefly rolled back — only the whites visible — before returning to focus.
It was a haunting sign of how weak she truly was.
We responded with IV fluids and a month’s supply of food. But emergency aid is not enough.
This family needs a helping hand — long enough to nourish them and bring them out of danger, by the will of Allah.
